Anyone working in the manufacturing, food, or laboratory industries knows that a good table is essential to most projects. From mixing chemicals to maintaining superior cleaning regimens, you need an industrial work table that keeps up with your needs. There are many tables available, but one of the most versatile would be an adjustable industrial table.

We will cover why adjustable height tables are essential for your work, what industries benefit the best, key benefits to look for, and more.

Why Use Adjustable Industrial Tables?

If we were to boil down the difference between adjustable industrial workbenches and regular industrial workbenches, what do you think the one difference is? It should be obvious by the name. Adjustable tables have adjusting heights.

This is usually achieved through hydraulics to make the adjustment easier. While you might only think these tables can go up and down, we also provide tables with adjustable tilts, which can be good for drafting or projects where a flat surface is not needed.

There are two major reasons to choose adjustable tables over regular ones. A standard table is made for a standard height. If your employees range significantly in height, then some will find the table too high or low for their needs. This increases accidents and frustrates workers.

Another reason you may want one is that your projects come in various sizes. For example, let’s say that your work often involves both large and small items. Employees would be able to reduce the table height when working with large items and vice versa. This makes them more comfortable and improves the accuracy of their work.

What Industries Benefit Most?

RDM Double-Sided Adjustable Industrial Workbench.

There are some industries that benefit more from adjustable industrial mobile tables and adjustable industrial tables than others. The truth is that most industries that benefit from industrial work tables will benefit from adjustable height tables. They are simply more versatile and prepared for workers and projects of varying heights.

These tables are ideal in any laboratory. When paired with the right material, such as stainless steel, you can create a work area for various workers to mix chemicals, clean between projects, and have a safe and comfortable work environment.

Manufacturing plants are quite the same. Your workers will often be handling corrosive and hazardous materials. The last thing you want is for these workers to be uncomfortable. That increases the chances of accidents along with daily aches and pains. These tables keep workers safer and happier.

There are other industries as well. The food industry requires industrial mobile tables, and adjustable industrial mobile tables make it easier for different workers to take shifts without being uncomfortable.

Don’t forget about the medical industry. Both doctors and techniques can use these tables for moving medical supplies, checking samples, and doing their work while saving lives.

What Key Features and Benefits are Most Important?

There are many key features and benefits to consider. There are some you should consider as the buyer or manager or who is supplying the office and some as the end-user who will be using the industrial tables.

Let’s start with the adjustments since that’s one of the most important aspects of these industrial tables. You must make sure that the table at least matches the minimum and maximum your workers will need. It’s best to overestimate by a few inches each way. This will ensure they stay comfortable and can work on many projects.

You should also consider if you need an adjustable tilt. This is beneficial if workers commonly find it difficult to work on horizontal surfaces, such as with drafting.

Many industrial workbenches can come with wheels and casters. This helps if the tables are commonly used to carry supplies or are frequently moved around. You must also consider the material. Many industrial spaces require stainless steel and similar materials, but other industries might be better off with wood or plastic laminate.

Your workers will care about how easy it is to use the table. We offer both hydraulic and manual lifts. Hydraulic will be better in most cases. They will also care about comfort. Our tables are made to be ergonomic, so be sure to contact us and we can pair you with the best adjustable height tables for your needs. Workers will also care about maximum weight if they work with heavier loads.

What to Know About Adjustable Industrial Tables Before Making a Purchase

You should first consider what you need from the table itself. Some industries require stainless steel for its resistance to static shock and thorough cleanliness. Others might require plastic laminate or wood.

The next thing to consider is the overall height. Consider how high and low the table must go and add a few extra inches. This will ensure that every worker will be comfortable and that every project can be completed properly. You should also consider the lift mechanism as we offer both hydraulic and manual.

You should then consider extra features that you need. This can include wheel and casters, storage shelves, lighting, and more. We are RDM Industrial are manufacturer direct and can build custom tables for your needs. Contact us and tell us what you need.

If you’re looking for lab furniture, then you’re probably looking at either a laboratory furniture manufacturer or laboratory furniture suppliers. Suppliers sell to the consumer while manufacturers fulfill orders and create inventory for suppliers. While this arrangement works for some labs, you might have better luck if you work with a company that is both the manufacturer and supplier.

This arrangement presents many benefits for you. Not only does it make it easier to get exactly what you need, but you can also get better answers if you have any questions. We’re going to cover why you should work with us. We at RDM Industrial have the laboratory furniture solutions you need to keep workers safe and happy.

Why Buy From a Laboratory Furniture Manufacturer Like RDM Industrial Products?

Since 1977, RDM Industrial Products, Inc., has been manufacturing and distributing quality industrial and laboratory furniture – specializing in custom furniture solutions.

We are only going to touch on the manufacturing aspect of our company here. As we said above, we are both the manufacturer and supplier. We produce a wide variety of laboratory furnishings to meet your heavy demands.

We produce stainless steel, wood, plastic laminate, and other sorts of lab tables to fit your needs. Not only are there various materials to choose from with our lab tables, but there are many features to choose from.

For example, you can choose laboratory tables with adjustable heights, wheels and casters, storage options, lighting, and much more. Our laboratory tables are made to be as versatile as possible while adhering to stringent safety standards. Not only that but all our furniture is proudly made in the USA. This ensures industrial quality so that your workers are safe while working with corrosive and dangerous materials.

Sometimes you need tables to be mobile or you need to carry supplies around the lab. Our laboratory carts are ideal for that. Along with the best materials you can choose from, we also offer special features such as storage cabinets and containment tops. We provide adjustable height carts, flat carts, and much more. As we said before, we are one of the laboratory furniture manufacturers that also provides custom orders to match your needs.

If you’re in need of lab cabinets, then we offer that as well. These are safe places to store acids, corrosives, and other hazardous materials. Our industrial quality cabinets are made to withstand the rigors of harsh laboratory experiments. This ensures that you can do your work without worrying about the furniture failing you.

Working With Supplier and Manufacturer Makes for a Better Experience

We described above why we’re one of the best and most versatile laboratory furniture manufacturers to keep your workers safe. Now let’s talk about why working with combination laboratory furniture suppliers and manufacturers is better for your business.

The truth is that many laboratory furniture suppliers don’t make their own furniture. That is left up to the manufacturer. This tends to increase prices somewhat because there are two businesses involved instead of one, but that’s not the biggest issue.

Let’s say that there is a problem with the lab furniture. Maybe it failed prematurely or a special feature isn’t working as expected. You need to call the supplier since they are the ones who sold you the furniture, but they then need to call the manufacturer. Not only does this increase how long it takes to get an answer, but you’ll often find that these laboratory furniture suppliers know relatively little about the furniture since they didn’t make it.

This also makes it hard to customize the furniture. Once again, the supplier needs to speak to the manufacturer to see if the custom furniture can be made. As you know, there is a higher chance of mistakes when more people are involved. This means that the custom piece may still not meet your needs.

These are problems you might encounter if you just deal with the supplier. We at RDM are both the supplier and laboratory furniture manufacturer. That means all our processes roll into one. Whether you’re looking to buy standard pieces or have custom furniture, we do it all for you. This means that you are talking directly to the manufacturer, which ensures that the finished piece is exactly what you’re looking for.

Our service is also unparalleled. Instead of having to call another business to see what went wrong and how it can be fixed, we can handle problems directly with you. This ensures that any unexpected issues are handled quickly and effectively. You won’t have to wait days and days to hear back.

Laboratories have very stringent needs and you can’t sit around waiting for answers. You also can’t waste time with incorrect furniture orders that don’t help your workers. Ordering from a combined manufacturer and supplier like us ensures that the entire process is as smooth as possible.

In Conclusion

We at RDM Industrial Products, Inc. proudly manufacture and sell our own furniture. This shortens the supply chain and ensures you get answers quickly and promptly. Not only that, but we can rapidly fulfill custom or standard orders for your lab or manufacturing plant. Contact us today and we will work with you to get your order completed to your specifications. We’d like to be your go-to Laboratory Furniture Manufacturer.

Ergonomic workstations and office equipment are designed to not only keep your employees comfortable, but to also reduce repetitive motion injuries and strains common to office life. An ergonomic workstation is able to ensure that workers are comfortable when they are working with computers or doing anything else at their desk. Not only that, but a height adjustable workbench can also be extremely useful in keeping workers comfortable.

We will explain what ergonomic tables are, why they are so useful and what you need to know before getting them for your office or lab.

Why Use Ergonomic Furniture?

Ergonomic laboratory furniture is designed to keep you comfortable. More than that, it’s meant to keep you safe as you perform repetitive motions for hours. Many people don’t realize how much pain you can experience from typing for many hours if your arms are too high or low.

RDM Ergonomic Workstation – Model RDM-i-107P-BOOM

An ergonomic table is designed to prevent this from happening. Ergonomic laboratory furniture is made to work with your body, and that means keep your body in a neutral position. Most workstations are made for average height, but what if you are shorter or taller? A height adjustable workbench can be used to ensure the table is at the ideal height for your body.

Aside from reduce injury and strain, these tables also allow you to be more productive. You won’t have to take as much time stretching and relaxing after sitting at the table, and all your focus will on your project rather than thinking about how your arms or back are sore.

What Industries Use Ergonomic Tables and Workstations?

The truth is that nearly every industry uses workstations and could benefit from having ergonomic models, so we will instead focus on those which would benefit most. Ergonomic laboratory furniture is essential in labs, manufacturing plants, hospitals and any other place where chemicals and specimens must be handled with care.

A mobile lab table ensures that you can easily mix chemicals or use a microscope. Not only that, but that tables can be adjusted in height so that you can easily work without hurting yourself, and we offer vibration-resistant tables that ensure a steady work environment.

Nearly every office would benefit from these tables as well. Many people need to sit in front of computers for hours to do their jobs, so you want to ensure that the table is comfortable. An ergonomic table ensures your employees can do their job in peace without hurting their arms or neck.

Another common industry that benefits from these workstations would be the food industry. We provide numerous stainless steel tables that are easily to thoroughly clean, which is essential when working with possible allergens. The ergonomic nature and adjustable height makes it easier to cut and prepare food.

If you’re in an industry that needs ergonomic workstations and/or tables but you rarely sit at them, then adjustable height tables are essential. These tables might be higher to ensure you don’t have to bend. Simply set the correct height and you can work without any pain.

What are Ergonomic Workstations and Tables Made From?

When it comes to any top-tier office or lab equipment, you’ll find that stainless steel is one of the most common materials. Nearly all of our manufacturer direct workstations have frames and legs made from stainless steel. This material is both highly durable and easy to maintain. Aluminum is also quite common as it’s more lightweight.

The top can be made from various different materials. Stainless steel is also very common for the top, but you can also choose plastic laminate, solid wood and various other chemical-resistant and static-control materials.

We gladly take on custom orders as well. If you need a particular material or other very specific requirements, then be sure to let us know. We can help make ergonomic furniture for your needs.

Key Features and Benefits of Adjustable Workstations

One of the major benefits of these tables is that they are adjustable. The height can be adjusted to ensure your arms and legs are neutral for an optimal posture. Many tables also offer adjustable tilt so that the top is at an optimal angle.

Storage space is quite common as well. You will frequently need to store files, equipment and other items in a nearby space. These tables can come with shelves and cabinets.

Another major benefit is that the tables can be customized to fit your needs. Some people will just need a flat table. Others will need a workstation with upper shelves, overhead lights or other special requirements. We offers these standard, and you can request custom tables for your needs.

What to Know About Ergonomic Furnishings Before Making a Purchase

You should first know what type of lift you want. Ergonomic tables offer both manual and hydraulic lifts. Hydraulic lifts tend to be a little more expensive, but they are faster, smoother and work better with larger weights. You should also know the adjustment range, especially if you need your tables very high or low for some reason.

Consider the materials common to your industry. For example, you wouldn’t want a plastic top if you’re working with chemicals. You would instead want something chemically resistant like stainless steel.

You must also consider what else you need from the table. This is more than a flat surface. You can get tables with cabinets, upper shelves, wheels and more. Think about what your workers commonly need and how you can make their jobs easier.

Conclusion

We at RDM Industrial Products proudly manufacture our products in the USA and sell direct to you. This not only means that you’re getting the best price, but we can work directly with you if you have any custom needs. Talk to us today about your ergonomic office or lab equipment needs and we will help outfit everything for you.

Many industries need industrial grade carts because they offer unique benefits and are highly durable. Whether you need to move heavy items or need the other special benefits of industrial carts, you’ll find that these carts are exceedingly helpful at work. This will cover what industrial carts are, the key features and benefits and what industries most commonly used utility carts.

Why Use Industrial Grade Carts?

There are numerous reasons to use industrial mobile tables. Many of these carts are durable and ready for heavier loads. If you’re moving heavy items, then you need heavy duty carts that are able to withstand the load. They are also more stable when moving these items.

In terms of durability, many of these carts are made from materials that will last for many years to come. For example, stainless steel carts are resistant to corrosion and chemical reactions. This allows them to move items that might damage other materials.

The other major reason is that these carts are easy to clean. Unlike porous materials, these types of carts can be made from nonporous materials that can be thoroughly cleaned. This is essential in food industries where you might be working with allergens, industries where poor cleaning can lead to chemical reactions and many other settings.

What Industries Use Industrial Carts?

Many industries use these utility carts. Manufacturing industries are always moving heavy items that may also be corrosive, reactive or otherwise harmful. These carts have a unique mixture of benefits that allow them to move

RDM Industrial Cart – Model MC-109P-SSTOP-CONT-01

heavy items while being resistant to damage.

Laboratories and healthcare facilities also use these types of carts. While they usually don’t need heavy duty carts, the major benefit is that the materials are resistant to corrosion and reactions, and they are easy to clean. This ensures that the carts can be sterilized so that there is no cross contamination.

Speaking of cross contamination, the food industry also uses these carts quite frequently. Much like with labs, the major benefit is how easy they are to clean. Many people suffer from food allergies. If you work with food, then you want to reduce cross contamination as much as possible. These carts are ideal for that purpose.

What are the Majority of Industrial Mobile Tables Made From?

The vast majority of these carts are made from stainless steel. Not only is that material highly durable, but it’s also easy to clean and it can withstand heavy weights. Stainless steel carts might be the most popular type, but there are other materials to choose from.

Our manufacturer direct carts offer several different top options depending on your needs. There is plastic laminate, acrylic, solid wood, pegboard carts, static control surfaces and more. We make our own industrial-quality carts, so we can also accommodate custom orders if you need a unique material.

The frame in nearly every cart is stainless steel. If you need something else, then be sure to contact us and we can help make the perfect carts for your business.

Key Features and Benefits of Industrial Grade Carts:

There are many features and benefits to industrial utility carts. Some of these features are dependent upon exactly which cart you get, while others are shared between all the carts.

Every industrial-quality cart is made to be highly durable and designed for heavy duty use. While some can carry more weight than others of course, these can all be sizeable loads so that you can safely move equipment, ingredients and other materials from one space to another.

There are also many unique features based on the top material. Some materials are nonreactive and noncorrosive. Some are ideal in environments that where static must be controlled and resisted, which is very helpful when working with electronics. If you’re not sure which material is right for your needs, then contact us and let us know what you need. We are a manufacturer-direct company, so we produce the tables directly and can help with anything you need.

Many carts also have adjustable heights. This can be either hydraulic or manual. It’s important to be sure that the cart is set to the right height for your specific needs, whether that be for moving items, as a worktable or anything else.

What to Know Before Making a Purchase:

The first thing we ask our clients to know is their exact needs. We offer industrial mobile tables that come in many sizes, form factors, materials and overall features. It’s easy to get lost if you don’t know what you need. If you’re not sure, then ask your staff what they need most from their heavy duty carts.

You should also know the rules, laws and guidelines that affect your industry. Some industries can use a variety of materials while others might be forced to use one or two materials to be legally compliant. We recommend that you check into this, especially if you intend on selecting a different material that you haven’t used before.

Understanding everywhere the cart will be used is key. Selecting a light industrial table when it might be used in a heavy industrial area can be problematic. You might not get a table that suits all of your needs. Keep this in mind to ensure the table is made to withstand all the work rigours.

Conclusion

Industrial carts are a necessity that are able to carry heavy loads, are simple to clean, are resistant to most chemicals and they make your job much easier. We at RDM Industrial Products proudly manufacture all our products directly and right in the USA.

Whether you want industrial-quality items or something custom and unique, contact us today and discuss your needs. We can fulfill nearly any order based on your specifications.

Whoever doubts the idea that a tool might be useful in proportion to its simplicity has probably never heard of light inspection tables. It must be said, though that those who haven’t heard of them or haven’t thought to use them have missed out on a truly extraordinary piece of equipment that has the power to assist in an impressively wide variety of different kinds of projects, whether industrial, personal or otherwise.

Furthermore, as mentioned, this great versatility and usefulness are bought at an astonishingly simple price; for, at bottom, inspection light tables are just what their name suggests they are: tables or workbenches coupled with a light source. That light source easily allows for close and careful inspection of whatever is placed upon the table surface.

The following is written for those who are new to light inspection tables. But who have work in mind that requires the presence of a reliable, powerful and convenient source of light. As we’ll show you, whether you’re an artist who needs light tables for drawing to help you bring an artistic vision to life. Or a scientist looking for an inspection table to help illuminate your lab so you can carry out precision work with ease or anything in between. These simple but powerful illuminated surfaces can contribute mightily and importantly to your work.

RDM Industrial Products is the proud manufacturer of a diverse array of different kinds of lab furniture, but light and inspection tables are among the things we take the most pride in specially crafting for our clients. Before you set out to bring light to your labor, however, here are a few important questions about inspection light tables that we can answer to bring you up to speed about them.

RDM Adjustable Height Light Inspection Table – Model A-107P-LT-CURBS-01 has perimeter containment curbs to help keep small items on the inspection platform.

1. What kinds of different light and inspection tables are there?

RDM manufactures industrial-quality light and inspection tables in three basic design styles: a standard table style, a workstation style and a rotating vertical panel style. Standard models can be subdivided into tilting light tables and non-tilting versions. There is a further variation on the standard table that is larger and features an overhead light boom. Workstation models come with overhead racks. Panels are larger than most tables and their surface can be oriented totally vertically.

Check out a listing of all of our different models light inspection tables here.

2. What are light inspection tables made of?

Another obvious question sure to be on the lips of those new to illuminated surfaces is what these things are made of. Of course, the style that you choose will have some significant bearing on your model’s overall construction and makeup, but we can make the following general remarks.

First, the framing that holds up all our models is made of sturdy tubular steel. This includes both of legs of each of our tables as well as any overhead hanging or lighting racks.

As for the surfaces themselves, we prefer to give you as many customizability options as possible. The surface of our tilting panel model, called LT-100P, is made of glass. However, all other table and workbench surfaces can be either made from laminated plastic, stainless steel, solid wood in the style of a butcher block, or other materials. If there is a special material you require, ask us and we will be able to fulfill your request.

Surfaces made from either plastic or stainless steel can also be coated in chemical-resistant or ESD anti-static material if you expect to be working with corrosive chemicals or substances that generate electricity.

3. How do light tables’ lighting systems work?

All of RDM’s light tables use either LED or fluorescent lighting. You may request either LED or fluorescent bulbs to go with whichever kind of table or panel you want, and we’ll create a factory-direct model set to your specifications. In addition, the location of the light source varies depending on the table style that you choose. Models built in either the standard table or the panel style emit light from light boxes located beneath the surface. Models built in the workbench style, on the other hand, emit they’re light from an overhead rack.

Lastly, RDM also gives you the option of customizing the color of light you’d light your table to emit. You can choose standard white light or another color like red, blue or green.

4. How do they handle weight?

If the centrepiece of each light table is its lighting system, not far off in order of importance is each table’s hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motor is used to lift and adjust the height of each table to your needs. It can be operated either with a manual hand crank or with buttons that work the electric motor. And course, this motor can have some fairly significant weight-bearing capacity, making it quite useful if you should need to inspect heavy objects.

In fact, our inspection light tables come standard with hydraulic motors with 1,000 pounds of lift capacity. If you like, you can supercharge your motor to either 1,500, 2,000 or 3,000 pounds.

5. How does the tilting feature work?

Tilting light tables are some of the coolest and most useful products that we offer. Sometimes, you’ll need to inspect something while it’s held at an angle. Thus, tilting light inspection tables give you the power to do precisely that. Like the lift system, the tilting feature can operated either through a manual hand crank or though an electrically powered hydraulic motor. The crank or the buttons to operate the motor are conveniently located on the side of each table. The tilt can be designed for weight-bearing capacities anywhere between 250 and 500 pounds.

6. What are the dimensions like?

The surface dimensions of our models vary widely. However, we can custom build tables for you that are anywhere from 24 to 72 inches in width, with each option separated by an increment of 12 inches. Our overhead light boom table can be custom-made up to 96 inches wide, and we can go all the way up to 144 inches with our workbenches.

7. Which industries use light tables/inspection tables?

Last but not least is the question of which industries use light tables and whom they typically serve. Artists and architects often make use of light tables for drawing when putting together works of art or carefully drawing up design plans. Even engineers use light tables for drawing when they have to either draw up or examine building plans. Hospitals and clinics often use them when examining x-rays or other kinds of important patient results. Scientists who require high visibility when doing their high-precision lab work are also grateful to have them.

This list, of course, only scratches the surface. If you need to examine anything on a flat surface, chances are that a light table will do you good.

Conclusion

Now that you know a bit about light tables and inspection tables — about what they are, how they work, how they’re built and what they can do for you — the only thing that remains is for you to select the right model for you and your needs. At RDM we’re happy to say that our light tables are proudly manufactured in the USA. And because every unit is factory-direct, we have the ability to customize our units very precisely to meet your needs.

It’s time to Call RDM today, to let us help you design your new Light Table or Inspection Table.

Our most common types of work surface tops are chemical and heat resistant, stainless finish, and Trespa Tops.

Let’s take a minute or two to delve in a little deeper on each of these key Laboratory Top Surface Options…

Solid Surface Trespa Tops

RDM designs and fabricates laboratory furniture to accommodate your project specifications. We also have a variety of laboratory surface top options available to meet your specific needs.

Trespa Tops offer a great mix of flexibility and durability due to their high-pressure compact laminate construction. Did you know – Solid Surface Trespa Tops, specifically the TopLab Plus line of products, have been engineered to be ideal for many diverse laboratory setups.

Highlights of Solid Surface Trespa Tops:

They are resistant to the most aggressive chemical and cleaning products. This resistance makes the tops easy to clean and great for use in all types of labs.

The tops resist bacterial growth, along with being chemical resistant for up to 24-hours.

Trespa Tops are incredibly durable and have a scratch-resistant surface.

Stainless Steel Lab Tops

Stainless steel is one of the most stable materials you can use in your lab. This stability makes them ideal for use in cleanrooms, operating rooms, and lab environments. Stainless can be had in many different finishes including a brushed finish, a smooth finish, and an ultra-smooth electropolished finish. The electropolish finish is mostly used in ultra-clean cleanrooms due to its mirror-like sheen. Making it easy to spot foreign particulates and debris. We offer two grades of stainless, 304 and 316. 304 is a high-quality option that is great for general use. 316 offers better corrosion resistance and is most common in outdoor and marine use cases. The durability and resilience of stainless make it an ideal choice if you are looking to get a lab table or lab bench.

Chemical Resistant Table Tops

Having chemical-resistant equipment is essential in most laboratories, even if the lab does not specialize in chemical work. Non-chemical-resistant laboratory tables and benches can be porous and hold onto high-strength cleaners when they are applied to their surfaces. This can lead to the equipment retaining these toxic substances and in turn creating a contaminated work surface. We offer a wide range of chemical-resistant surfaces and our team of experts can help you pick out the surface that best fits your line of work. Most chemical-resistant surfaces come as either a laminate or a pure slab of material.

Chemical Resistant Surfaces

Solid Phenolic (Trespa): offers a non-porous surface with high levels of chemical and heat resistance.

Epoxy Resins: are harder than our other surfaces and do well in impact-heavy environments. If you want to modify your epoxy surfaces, you need to use special diamond tooling to machine the modifications.

Pionite ChemGuard: is a high-pressure laminate (HPL) is a common choice in schools, health care facilities, and other high-wear applications due to its durability and customizability. ChemGuard is usually mounted on a solid wood surface with a phenolic backing mounted on the inverse side of the wood.

Nevamar ChemArmor: is an HPL that is commonly used for lab benches, cabinets, and other high-traffic work surfaces. It is in conformance with NEMA LDS-2005 3.4 stain resistance and SEFA 8-PL-2010 recommended practices, section 8.1 chemical resistance, which makes it ideal for most common laboratory applications.

WilsonArt ChemSurf: this laminate has been designed to be able to withstand the harshest acids, bases, and solvents on the market without deteriorating. It is ideal for use in healthcare and hospitality, as it is easy to clean and dependable.

Heat Resistant Surface Tops

These types of surface tops can be essential in a variety of laboratory settings. As you know, heat can be produced by countless sources like a chemical reaction or a Bunsen burner. No matter the source, excess heat can lead to warpage or even melting of standard laboratory tables. Our industrial products can be customized with heat resistant materials. Surface tops like Trespa or even epoxy to help combat the effects of high heat on our lab tables.

No matter if you need a singular lab bench, or a whole new setup of industrial furniture for your factory. Our team at RDM Industrial Products Inc., has you covered. Our industrial & laboratory products are proudly made in the USA. And of course, many of our product lines can be customized to fit your unique specifications and needs.

If you have any questions regarding what surface tops would be ideal for your lab tables, give us a call at 1-877-483-5733. Our team is ready to work with you to better understand the needs of your equipment requirements. And after your specifications are established, we can go over your feature options and what surface tops will best cover all of your bases.

If you’re in the manufacturing industry, healthcare, an industrial setting or laboratory, then you’re likely in need of industrial duty stainless steel furnishings. From stainless steel lab tables to carts and more. There are numerous stainless steel furnishings to choose from that complement your place of business. We will discuss why stainless steel is so commonly used for industrial purposes, the common industries that use this furniture and what types of furniture you can expect to find at this high level of quality.

Why Use Stainless Steel for Furniture?

When you think of home furniture, you probably think about materials like wood, upholstery and other comfortable or aesthetically pleasing materials. If you’re in an industrial setting though, then you want stainless steel furniture that will serve your everyday needs without breaking down.

Most industrial, manufacturing and laboratory settings work with materials that common materials can’t handle. For example, you might be working with corrosive, reactive or hazardous materials. You need furniture that is nonreactive, noncorrosive, nonporous and durable enough to withstand any accidents or spills. It also needs to be easy to clean so that you don’t need to worry about cross contamination.

Stainless steel does all that and more. Not only does it offer every property we just listed, but it’s also fairly easy to work with. This allows us to make many different items, and we can even produce custom items as needed.

What Industries Use Stainless Steel Furnishings?

RDM Stainless Steel Ergonomic Lift Table – Model A-107P-SS-CLG-DROP-TRESP includes Drop-Leaf Extension Table Surface(s), shown here with one on each side. Also shown with Optional Casters (Wheels).

There are many industries that use stainless steel tables and other furnishings. Laboratories are probably the most common because they need stainless steel lab tables that can withstand hazardous or corrosive chemicals, require a sterile environment, need equipment that can be thoroughly cleaned and must have the environment completely under their control. Stainless steel has all these properties.

Manufacturing and industrial settings have many of the same requirements. These often work with even more hazardous materials, but stainless steel is still able to provide workers with protection. Unlike some materials that might react to certain chemicals, stainless steel provides a safe environment for technicians and employees to do their job.

There are other industries that also require stainless steel. Many companies that work with electronics require stainless steel workbenches. That’s because this material won’t discharge static. Imagine the harm one static shock could do while working with expensive electronics. Hours of work and thousands of dollars could be lost to one small shock.

The food industry also uses stainless steel furniture. Due to its nonporous and easy-to-clean nature, stainless steel is ideal for this setting. This is especially true when working with allergens as this industry is highly regulated. This material ensures that workers can thoroughly clean their environment so that consumer safety is safeguarded.

Most Common Types of Stainless Steel Furniture

While stainless steel is very tough and durable, our manufacturer direct service is able to produce a wide range of items. Not only that, but we welcome our customers to request custom items, such as extra large tables, thicker steel, more storage space and so on.

Stainless steel can be turned into nearly anything. Stainless steel carts, workbenches and tables are incredibly common. These all give you a flat surface to work on projects while giving you the protection of stainless steel. Tables are fairly basic, carts have casters and wheels and workbenches can have lighting and places to store equipment.

Stainless Steel Lockers

There are also stainless steel lockers. Not only are these durable, but they also provide the static-free and easy-to-clean environment your lab, cleanroom or manufacturing plant needs. Large storage cabinets can also be produced to fit equipment, manufactured items, personal belongings and more.

While these are the most common items, our quality designed furniture can fit all your furnishing needs. Everything is proudly manufactured in the USA and factory direct.

Key Features and Benefits of Stainless Steel

Many people know that stainless steel is tough and durable. While these are qualities that industrial and manufacturing settings need, the benefits of stainless steel go far deeper than that.

Not only is this material resistant to most bangs and hits, but it’s also resistant to many acids and chemicals. You need furniture that won’t react or be entirely destroyed by small accidents. Stainless steel resists most chemical reactions, ensuring safety and protecting your investment. It’s also nonporous, which prevents chemicals from wearing away or latching to the surface.

Stainless steel is very easy to clean. That might not seem like a huge benefit, but it really is. Imagine that harm that could be done if a chemical or allergen remained stuck to the table’s surface. This could lead to cross contamination, unexpected chemical reactions and numerous other threats.

The last major benefit is that stainless steel doesn’t build a static charge, which is essential for many businesses that need a controlled environment. You don’t need electronics destroyed or chemicals activated by a small static shock.

What to Know Before Making a Purchase

There are several things you should consider before making your stainless steel furnishings purchase. The first thing we suggest is mapping out the environment and finding out what furniture you need. Consider overall sizing and general requirements.

We offer many options, so be sure you consider your needs. For example, let’s say you need stainless steel workbenches. Do they need adjustable height, casters, storage shelves, lighting or extra thick steel? Consider your needs and check our features. If you don’t see a feature listed, then ask us about it. We often accommodate custom requests.

You should also check safety guidelines. You may want to save money by getting thinner material, but safety guidelines might require specific features. It’s also a good idea to consult your team and see what they feel is necessary for operations.

Conclusion

Stainless steel furniture is ideal for many manufacturing, laboratory, industrial and food settings. Not only do we offer a wide range of options and features, but we also help answer questions and work with custom orders. We at RDM Industrial Products would be happy to help with your stainless steel furnishing needs. Contact us today about any questions you have.

Designing your cleanroom comes down to picking the right cleanroom furnishings. There are many factors you need to consider, such as static and air purity, and furniture contributes greatly to the quality of your cleanroom. This post will discuss what cleanroom furniture is along with other essential information.

Cleanroom Furniture: What Is It?

You might be wondering why only certain tables and desks can be used as cleanroom furniture. While this type of furniture comes in many different materials, sizes, storage options and other features, it really comes down to how the furniture can serve your cleanroom.

RDM Stainless Steel Cleanroom Cart – Model MC-109P-SS-PERF-01

These tables and carts must be durable enough for your procedures. For example, you will often need furniture that is chemically nonreactive, resistant to electric shock and easy to clean between procedures.

The furniture must also be functional. It might include have extra storage compartments, wheels for simple transportation and able to support workloads as needed.

Why Use Cleanroom Furnishings?

Not every industry needs cleanroom workbenches or stainless steel furniture. If you don’t work with corrosive materials, don’t worry about contaminating surfaces or don’t work with hazardous chemicals, then these tables and benches might not be needed.

This furniture is for industries that need that extra level of protection and for those who need their procedures to be exact and sterile. Cleanroom equipment is typically designed to be nonreactive to chemicals. This provides extra safety if spills or accidents occur. This type of furniture is also designed to help you control the environment.

If you work on any industry that requires a cleanroom, then you know how important control and reliability are. You need the environment to be exactly the same every time you perform procedures, from mixing substances to working with hazardous materials. Even a small change can result in failure or danger. This furniture is designed to prevent even minute changes in your room.

What Industries Use Cleanroom Furnishing?

There are many industries that require laminar flow HEPA workstations and cleanroom countertops. The most obvious setting would be a laboratory with laboratory cabinets and countertops, but there are many other industries that need these types of cleanroom furnishings as well.

Manufacturing settings are nearly as common as laboratories. Caustic and hazardous materials are no stranger here. Using inadequate furniture can lead to failed procedures and even safety concerns. Imagine what would happen if the environment was contaminated with unwanted chemicals. Or worse yet, an accident occurred and hazardous materials spilled on a reactive surface. This could be a financial and safety nightmare for the whole business.

Some industries need cleanroom to control electricity and static rather than chemical reactions. Many computer manufacturers and electronics producers require cleanrooms. One small static discharge can cause untold damage to electronics. Imagine hours or days of work being destroyed from one little zap. Proper benches and tables prevent this from occurring.

Food manufacturing is also a common place for cleanroom furnishings. You need a clean environment where ingredients can be mixed. This is especially true if you are working with common allergens, or if you produce products both with and without allergens. Not only does this furniture prevent reactions, but it’s also incredibly easy to clean and nonporous.

As you can see, there are many industries that need this type of furniture and for different reasons. Some for chemical resistance, others to control the environment and reduce shock and others to have a sterile and easy to clean workspace.

What are Cleanroom Furnishings Made From?

Cleanroom workbenches and other cleanroom furnishings are constructed with various nonporous materials. The most common would be industrial quality stainless steel. You can also find aluminum furniture and some other materials, but stainless steel furniture is the most common in this arena.

That’s because stainless steel serves all the major purposes you need. It’s nonporous, nonreactive, easy to clean, durable and can be quality designed to fit many shapes, sizes and needs.

Key Features and Benefits of Cleanroom Furniture

There are many key features and benefits associated with this furniture. The most important one is that this furniture serves your purposes and keeps you safe. The furniture is nonreactive to resist chemical spills, nonporous, highly durable and very easy to clean.

This furniture is also customizable. Each cleanroom is unique and has specific needs. Whether you need levelling casters, extra shelves, uncommonly large or small furniture or anything else, our manufacturer direct service will ensure your needs are met.

Another major benefit is that this furniture improves your output and productivity. If you work in a sterile or clean environment, then you know how costly cross-contamination and accidents can be. This is especially true if your settings are not equipped to deal with these problems. Cleanroom equipment is primarily made to resist chemicals. It should also be easy to clean and allow you to easily move from one project to the next.

You’ll also find that this furniture has a very long lifespan. Resisting corrosion and other forms of damage don’t just help your productivity. This also ensures that the furniture resists aging and daily dings and scratches. This furniture is an investment in your lab, manufacturing plant or wherever else you need it.

What to Know Before Making a Purchase

This is a big investment and we want to make sure that you know everything before putting your money down. Cleanrooms each have specific requirements, so know what you need before buying any furniture. For example, do you need a standard table, or an equipment rack? We offer many options at RDM Industrial Products and we want to offer the best ones for your needs.

Since this furniture is also ideal for storage, consider how many shelves and storage spaces you need for your equipment and other items. Many industries also need help with transportation, so consider carts that fit your needs.

You should also consult the safety guidelines of your industry. What is safe for one industry might not be enough for another.

Conclusion

Cleanroom furniture not only helps with productivity, but it also keeps your workers safe while providing them with the best equipment. Be sure to consider all your options and ask questions, we are happy to address your concerns while also with any custom items that you might need. We at RDM Industrial Products are here to help your lab, manufacturing plant or other business succeed.

If you work in an industrial environment or laboratory, then you know that your equipment must be specially made for the environment. Many people recognize this when it comes to desks, tables and cabinets, but this should include your seating chair solutions. Industrial ergonomic seating/chair styles look like regular office seating, but we have designed them for industrial quality strength and durability.

In this blog post – we will show you why ergonomic industrial seating is so important, the most common industries they are used in, key features and benefits and what you need to know before purchasing industrial seating.

Importance of Industrial Ergonomic Chair Styles

RDM Offers a Wide Variety of Ergonomic Seating – Industrial Duty & Laboratory Chairs.

When it comes to ergonomic seating chair solutions, whether it’s laboratory seating, cleanroom seating or anything else, there are two major aspects to consider. We made sure that our chairs meet industrial specifications and needs and we also ensured that each chair and stool is ergonomic.

Let’s first consider the industrial needs.

Despite everyone’s best efforts, the truth is that most industries have spills, debris, dust and other contaminants. Most industrial settings are working with caustic, flammable or otherwise noxious chemicals that can destroy inferior office furniture. Our seating is made to be simple to clean in case of spills, and it comes in a variety of materials and finishes to work in numerous environments.

Let’s also discuss the needs of ergonomic seating.

According to Medline, failing to use ergonomic chairs, stools and other equipment may lead to possible pain and injury. This can include carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive motion disorders and pain commonly in the back or arm and leg joints.

Our ergonomic seating was developed with the human body in mind. This means that our quality designed, factory direct seating was designed to ensure comfort whether you’re sitting for minutes or hours. Most industrial and laboratory settings can be tough on your body from lifting heaving objects to very meticulous and repetitive movements. Ergonomic furniture was developed to reduce the associated pains and injuries that many workers face.

Most Common Industries

The truth is that our ergonomic office seating can be used in nearly any industry. From a regular office to the harshest industrial plant. At the same time, you probably want to know where our chairs are most commonly used as we are happy to provide that information.

Our laboratory seating is very commonly used in labs, offices, industrial plants and manufacturing businesses. Aside from our chairs being both highly durable and comfortable, we also produced them to accommodate standard equipment and desk heights. This means they were made specifically for the other furniture around you, so they fit right into the office.

Whether you are mixing chemicals, working at a production area or going over reports, our stools and chairs will keep you comfortable. They are built tough and made in the USA, plus they are designed for the everyday tasks that you’re doing right now.

We also provide cleanroom seating, which often requires very specific materials and finishes. From static control to standards such as ISO 3 and ISO 6, our chairs were designed for professional environments with exacting standards.

While we built them to be durable enough for industrial work, you might be wondering if our office chairs and stools are suitable for the carpeted side of the business. Our chairs are roomy, comfortable, have many adjustments for height and sitting angle and include lumbar support.

Our chairs and stools were built to be both rugged and comfortable to fit a wide range of industries.

Key Ergonomic Features and Benefits

Many people don’t realize how many features and options there are to choose from when it comes to ergonomic seats. We will break down the most important parts so that you know exactly what to look for.

If you’re choosing a chair, then consider the back. It should be upholstered with a comfortable material that meets the demands of your environment. The best backs also include lumbar support.

You also need chair controls for optimal ergonomic comfort. We have included levers for height adjustment, backrest angle and seat tilt. It only takes a minute to conform the chair to your body’s natural angles and sitting patterns.

Many of our chairs come with a foot-ring. These optional rings are simple to adjust and they enhance comfort by giving you a place to rest your feet. And any adjustments needed, are done by through the centre bushing.

The base typically has five legs and can be made from a variety of materials. Most are steel-reinforced to extra durability and longevity. You can choose to have wheels or not depending on your needs. Most of our caster wheels are made to resist movement unless someone is sitting in their the chair. The prevents the chair from moving as you get up or once you are away from the desk.

What you Need to Know

What do you need to know before ordering your ergonomic seating? As we said, our chairs are made for various industrial environments, from cleanrooms to labs and much more. You should order chairs specifically for your environment. For example, you wouldn’t order a light manufacturing chair for an ultra clean environment.

Also consider what extra features you need. Many of our customers like having a foot-ring for extra comfort. You can also choose an extra smooth pneumatic tilt and backrest along with a larger backrest.

If you’re ordering these for a cleanroom, then you can only get a chrome finish. If you’re order for other environments, then you can get this in a black powder coat.

Aside from knowing what features you want, we also suggest keeping an open mind about the other available features. You might find that we offer something that makes your office run much smoother.

Now just look through our extensive catalog and find the best ergonomic seating for your needs. We offer many options and are happy to speak to you about any questions that you might have.

In any kind of laboratory environment, precision will always be of the utmost importance. Pure research labs demand absolutely precise experimental set-ups. Medical labs allow virtually no room for error when it comes to things like isolating microbes or purifying the environment from contaminants. Industrial labs require the testing of materials under very specific conditions, and so on. For such delicate tasks in each environment, high-precision equipment is indispensable.

Of course, we also know that benches and workstations are the bread-and-butter of every laboratory. They are the central thing that makes it hum along. But for certain high-precision tasks, an ordinary workbench just won’t cut it.

That’s where laminar air flow hoods and clean air workstations come in.

These are special workstations that are enclosed by special cabinets. Each made partially of metal and partially of transparent material like glass or acrylic. One side of the enclosure, however, is generally either left totally open or at least provides workers with the option to create an opening. Thus, in a laminar flow bench, everything is done within the confines of an enclosure.

The true importance of this fact, however, only comes out once you realize what the central component of the enclosure is: a high-precision air filter like a HEPA or an ULPA filter. Thus, a laminar flow bench is meant to create a work environment whose air is utterly cleansed of all, or very nearly all, particulates and contaminants. It creates an ideal space for work with extremely sensitive materials.

But this description only scratches the surface of what these devices can really do and what they are meant for. For more than four decades, RDM Industrial Products has manufactured factory-direct and industrial-quality lab equipment of all sorts. Laminar flow hoods are among are among our proudest offerings. Here, we’re going to tell you more about what laminar flow hoods are. We’ll share what they do, and how they work. As well as the most important types that exist and why your lab truly needs them.

What Do Laminar Flow Hoods & Clean Air Workstations Do?

Before we delve into the specifics. Like the kinds of laminar flow hoods RDM can manufacture and the particular things they can do for you. Let us provide a general overview to help set the stage.

As mentioned, laminar flow benches are encased and use high-powered air filters to remove particulates from the surrounding air. But the filters don’t just take in, clean and release back air in a haphazard way. They do it very specifically, generating what’s know as a laminar flow. This means that air currents which are absorbed by the air filter and those which are released by it all flow parallel to one another so as not to disturb each other.

Without this kind of action, the filter would never be able to reliably purify air. If a filtered air current were to disturb an as yet unfiltered air current, contaminants from the latter would likely find their way into the former, thus nullifying the filter’s work. Laminar flow also creates a very serene air flow environment in the workbench enclosure that it free from major disturbances.

Thus, clean air workstations are ideal places to work with very sensitive materials which cannot tolerate contamination or disturbance.

Types of Laminar Flow Hoods

Laminar flow HEPA workstations fall into two broad categories based on the direction in which they send air flowing:

Vertical Laminar Flow Hoods:

Vertical laminar flow hoods take in air flow the top of the unit and then release it back down after filtering it. Thus, air flows vertically and downward. These models tend to be relatively compact and easy to install and use. In fact, the filters and enclosures from such units can be attached to many different kinds of lab workbenches.

Horizontal Laminar Flow Hoods:

Horizontal laminar flow hoods take in air from the back of their enclosure and send it flowing out horizontally toward the front. That is, toward where the researchers happens to be working. To make this process work as intended requires air flows in these units to much even more delicate than those in vertical laminar flow hoods. Thus, horizontal models have greater physical depth, sensitivity and complexity to their designs. The most high-end air filters also usually work best on horizontal models.

Other Important Features of Clean Air Workstations

Beyond this, RDM’s laminar flow workstations have many other features that help make them into extraordinary assets to your laboratory. We also give you the power to customize certain features to your liking. Here are some of these important additional features:

Filters:

You already know that air filters are the centre piece of each and every laminar flow hood. But all filters are not the same. Each hood comes equipped with an air filter that can at least meet HEPA standards. These HEPA — or, High-Efficiency Particulate Air — filters are able to filter out 99.99% of all particles from the surrounding air. Particles which are 0.3 microns in diameter or larger. If this does not meet your standards, you can outfit your work station with an ULPA — or, Ultra-Low Particulate Air — filter. These filters remove 99.999% of all particles from the surrounding air which are 0.12 microns in diameter or larger.

Work Surfaces and Side Panels:

If you plan to work with lasers, we can make the work station’s side panels out of black acrylic for you. We can also add in a front draft guide to help better control air flow and even make it static-resistant. As for the workstation surface, we can laminate it with plastic or coat it with other materials for you if you so desire.

Noise Levels:

Units produce only about 50 decibels of noise. This is about as loud as the hum of a standard refrigerator or a conversation going on at some distance from you.

Lighting:

All units come with industrial-quality LED lighting fixtures inside the workbench enclosure.

You can find a list of other important features of clean air workstations , as well as a detailed filter classification scheme, here.

Conclusion

Laminar flow HEPA workstations aren’t just vacuously complicated and fancy pieces of equipment that lab managers can use to show off. Not only are they essential to do doing extremely delicate work, but they have allowed us to make enormous strides in lab safety whenever certain kinds dangerous substances become involved.

But as with any other important tool, laminar air flow hoods and clean air workstations contain a significant amount of variation between them. Before selecting one for your lab, we strongly recommend acquainting yourself with their uses and features in greater detail, which you can do by going here. RDM has great latitude in its ability to customize laminar air flow hoods for you. So once you’ve settled on what you want, your unit(s) will be proudly manufactured in the USA and will come directly from the factory.

We look forward to helping you bring your lab up to the next level.
